Dr Amanda Britton (MB ChB DRCOG DCH FFSRH MRCGP) qualified in Birmingham in 1981 and became a partner at The Hackwood Partnership in 1992. She is currently the senior partner and her main interests are contraception, sexual health, paediatrics and women’s health. These interests are reflected in her work with RCGP and RCOG in London. She is currently also the Clinical Director of the North Hampshire Alliance, a federation of the 20 local General Practices, with the aim of helping to integrate health care in North Hampshire.
Dr Bowen (BHB MB ChB DA (Auckland) 1983 DRCOG MRCGP PGCE in Medical Appraisal) is a partner & did her medical training at the University of Auckland in New Zealand.
She is involved in medical education as a GP Trainer, is a medical appraiser of qualified GPs and is an Associate Dean in Medical Appraisal for the Wessex Deanery.
She graduated in 1982 and came to England in 1984, arriving in Basingstoke for a ten day locum in May 1985. She has been here ever since and joined The Hackwood Partnership in 1993. She is a GP trainer, and involved in the appraisal of qualified GPs. Her medical interests include Women’s Health.
Away from work she is a keen cook, reader, allotment gardener and follower of music and can be found regularly on the sidelines supporting her sons’ various sporting activities.
Dr Heathorn qualified from the University of Bristol in 1997. She joined The Hackwood Partnership in 2002 and has special interests in diabetes, dementia and women’s health. She has 3 children and enjoys running, cycling and mountain walking.
Dr Sykes is a Partner and after attending Oxford University and St Thomas’s Hospital Medical School, qualified in 1983 and then trained as a GP. She worked in South London until 1995 when the family moved near Basingstoke. She has worked part time in the Hackwood Partnership since then, and is involved in fund-raising for the Hospital Medical Fund. The rest of her time she is busy organizing her three children and the family’s three horses, dog, cat and two tortoises!
Dr O’Keeffe (MRCGP, DTM&H, DFSRH, MBChB) qualified from Bristol University in 1998. She has worked in both acute hospital medicine and General Practice in the South-West, in London and also in East Africa before moving to Basingstoke in 2013. Her special interests are Remote and Travel Medicine along with Women and Children’s Health. She has three young children and two dogs and enjoys walking, sailing, skiing and family adventures discovering new places!
Dr Radhakrishnan came to the Practice as a Registrar in August 2005, and having successfully completed her training has stayed with us as an Assistant.
Dr Sarah Care (f)
Dr Sarah Care (MBBCh DRCOG MRCGP) is an Assistant and trained at Cardiff Medical School qualifying in 2008. She completed her GP training in Basingstoke and accepted a job offer from The Hackwood Partnership at the end of her Registrar year. She also works as a freelance GP and has a specialist interest in women’s health. Her hobbies include skiing, travelling and interior design. Dr Care is currently on maternity leave.
Dr Louise Carney (f)
Dr Carney (Bsc (Hons) MBChB(Hons) MRCS MRCGP) qualified from Bristol University in 1997 and trained in general surgery. After spending some years as a surgical registrar and having a young family she switched to a career in General Practice. She joined The Hackwood Partnership in April 2016. She has 4 children who keep her busy outside the Practice.
Dr James Norfolk (m)
Dr Norfolk (BMMS BSc MRCGP) Qualified from Nottingham University in 2011, and became a GP in 2016 after completing his registrar year here at Hackwood. Before qualifying as a Doctor he worked as a sports and fitness coach for a number of years.
Dr Thomas Millar (m)
Dr Millar joined the Practice in October 2017.
Dr Sam Johnson (m)
Dr Johnson has completed his GP training and has joined the practice as an associate GP.
